Knowledge Made Concrete: 100 Years of Teaching and Collecting

As Alberta’s two oldest cultural institutions, AUArts and the AGA have enjoyed a century-long partnership. Their reciprocal relationship has played a key role in shaping Alberta's artistic landscape.

Knowledge Made Concrete draws from the AGA’s Permanent Collection, showcasing works by AUArts alumni and faculty. The exhibition also features new works by recent alumni, offering a reflection on the past while also looking to the future.

It started in 1926, with bold strokes of charcoal on paper in the evening art classes held at the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art. One hundred years later, boundary-breaking creative visions come to fruition in the classrooms and studios at the Alberta University of the Arts.

President's Installation Ceremony & Centennial Celebrations

Join us in officially welcoming Dr. Janis Goldie as Alberta University of the Arts’ President and CEO.

The installation is a formal ceremony that marks the official welcome and installing of the powers and responsibilities associated with the role of the President. The event will bring together our campus, invited alumni, supporters and the broader community. Dr. Janis Goldie is Alberta University of the Arts’ 20th executive leader.

Following the ceremony will be a reception to kick off the university’s Centennial and celebrate AUArts’100th birthday.
