brightcounsel.law/Growing up on the prairies, being close to the land and around the history of old farm buildings waiting stoically for their return to the earth, I learned to appreciate the sense of history and connectivity to the land that these old buildings held. The traditions of music and its connectivity to history and location have the same magic. After traveling a little and learning more about photography's potential to freeze time and transport the viewer, I decided to formalize that interest through a fine art degree at what is now the Alberta University of the Arts. Although no longer my full-time livelihood, art, photography and music remain the medicine for my soul and the perfect antidote to the cacophony of modern city life. I hope that in some way my images can draw the viewer beyond the 2-D paper image and into an emotional connection with the subject matter, with the viewer not just looking, but seeing, and hopefully experiencing the image differently than the last viewer, or the next, because of what that image brings from within that viewer when they focus on their unique connection to the subject matter.
