A Canadian Visual Artist, born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, who now resides in the small Towne of Langdon (The Good Luck Towne). Now painting, inspiration derives from Alberta’s vast mountains and never ending prairie; “Love for the unspoken words of nature”. Linnea
Linnea's work is in the form of contemporary landscapes, abstract vibrations and snapshot details of nature. You can see her work in a variety of different mediums: Watercolour | Inks and the ancient and re-emerging medium of Encaustic.
"As an artist, I am drawn to the fluidity and spontaneity of watercolour, a medium often associated with traditional techniques and delicate landscapes. However, I aim to push the boundaries of this perception by using nontraditional watercolour surfaces, infusing my work with a contemporary energy. The unconventional use of watercolour and inks allow for unexpected textures, layers and interactions, giving the paintings a modern feel that contrasts with the medium’s historic reputation.
Ultimately Linnea's work seeks to reframe watercolour within the context of contemporary art, challenging preconceived notions of what this medium can achieve."
Natures unseen vibrations & energy.
Linnea doesn’t necessarily always ponder what is happening above ground but below, seismic happenings! Reflecting on space, time, relationships, interactions between people and energy. Along with studying the properties of making her own pigments (from nature) in watercolour and pastels, again she brings new energy in “living” paintings from hand forged pigments.
Her intention; to spark personal recollections in the viewer from an unconventional perspective, carefully building layers upon layers, leaving a translucent history, using depth colour, luminescence, sculptural textures and surface transitions, transitions of slight sodalities. Endless discovery within her work!
