luarts.caLu Bassett is a Calgary-based interdisciplinary artist and BFA graduate from Alberta University of the Arts, specializing in interactive digital art, glitch aesthetics, painting, and transductive media. Their practice develops ludo plein-air - a methodology for structured walking through virtual worlds, documenting emotional encounter through the Recorded Emotional Encounter Document (REED) system, and translating those records into physical paintings through constrained, evidence-bound interpretation. Bassett's work has been exhibited across AUArts venues and public spaces in Calgary, including a juried commission for Brookfield Properties' Downtown Digital Exhibition and the 2026 invitational installation Catch-All, in which the REED system was presented as a public participatory framework. They are a two-time recipient of the President's Honour Roll and hold bursaries from the Illingworth Kerr and Rod 'Stu' Stuart funds. Bassett has completed residencies at Alberta University of the Arts and Sparrow Artspace, and is currently developing ludo plein-air toward MFA research.
