Mariella Villalobos (MDES - Glasgow School of Art 2019) is an award-winning Chilean-Canadian illustrator working in Mohkinstsis/Treaty 7 and Glasgow, UK. Born in Calgary, she initially grew up in Santiago, Chile, until her family’s return to Calgary in 1993. Since graduating from ACAD in 2010 with her BDES in Visual Communication Design, she has worked in everything from editorial illustration to books, album covers, printmaking, character design, and short prose. She also continues to be an active participant and volunteer in the local arts, film, and music communities, including Alberta Printmakers, the Calgary Underground Film Festival, Sled Island, and One Yellow Rabbit.
