My practice revolves around unease, exploring the connection between liminal surreal landscapes and emotion. Using the third space, a place not of earth or heaven or hell but a separate in between space that holds neutrality in its existence. The organic and metallic landscapes are warped and bent to distort their appearance.

Inspired by the world-building of Clive Barker my paintings depict the same environment and world through different windows. Each one changing and building on the last to capture the landscapes movement through time and space. The stillness and silence of my works create mixed with the extreme contrast and subtle use of slightly different colour stories throughout my works create a compelling view through these third spaces. The emptiness of the labyrinths and the simplicity of the sky allow the viewer a place to rest their eyes from the intricacies of the maze. Extreme contrast between the flat tops of the maze and the almost black of the inside maximize the disorienting feelings my work produces. These works seem never ending, trapping the viewer in a place that is alive and moving, where no exit can be seen. Using muted blacks and greys and neutral whites my paintings are almost entirely devoid of colour; this allows me to have better control over the smooth blended gradients seen throughout the work and they are able to have greater depth and contrast without the need for extensive colour work.
